A downloadable game for Windows

βš”οΈ Astarte's Wake

A turn-based card-combat roguelite, sailing a mythic sea inspired by Phoenician legend.

πŸ› οΈ Early development build — not by any means a finished game.
This is a solo passion project I'm building purely for fun.
Expect bugs, placeholder content and balance issues.
Right now there's only one feminine body type and clothing models aren't implemented yet — both are in active development, which is why everyone's running around in placeholder underwear for now.

🌊 The story

You died...

But the goddess Astarte fished your soul out of the dark — not out of kindness, but because eternity is long and boooring and you looked quite entertaining...

Her bargain: the twelve gods of the pantheon are riddled with corruption, and you are going to purge it... All of it... Island by island, god by god, for as long as it amuses her — which is to say, forever.
Die again and she'll simply drag you back to her sanctum, comment on (likley mock) your performance, and send you out once more.

Sail between procedurally generated islands, each under the patronage of one of the twelve. Cleanse what festers there, grow stronger, and work toward healing every god in the pantheon — with a divine narrator who never, ever stops watching.

βš”οΈ How it plays

Astarte's Wake is a semi-turn-based card battler. Each round you play an action card and can attach reaction cards to opponent cards, that trigger on your opponent's move. Then the round plays out:
a dynamic cinematic combat sequence is staged from your cards, the context, and both fighters' stats — camera work, dodges, clashes and hits are composed on the fly, so that exchanges look entertaining.

I developed this system, because it always botehred me in turn based combat games, that they just stand there, or slightly move with an effect. SUPER BORING.

Your deck is your character: find or buy new cards from exploration, and choose how deep into dangerous sky you dare to sail.

✨ Features

  • 🎲 Procedural everything — weapons, cards, characters, islands, events: all generated.
  • 🎭 Deep procedural characters — sculpt your captain feature by feature, down to the hair. Endless possibilities, every face unique, this includes EVERY NPC.
  • πŸƒ Your deck is your character — collect procedurally generated cards through exploration: chests, shrines, merchants, etc.
  • βš”οΈ Cinematic combat, deep strategy — Dynamic directed combat scenes based on played cards and chacrter stats.
  • πŸ—ΊοΈ Procedurally generated islands — explore painterly worlds, each ruled by a different god.
  • πŸ“œ Story & encounters — merchants, pilgrims, pirates, springs and shrines, and much more, all narrated by the goddess Astarte herself.
  • πŸ“Έ In-combat photo mode — press the small pause button, then orbit and switch cameras mid-fight to frame your own action shots.
  • πŸ›οΈ Phoenician-inspired pantheon — twelve gods, their weapons, cards and islands themed around ancient myth... But in the sky ^^
  • βœ… A complete game loop — sail, explore, fight, cleanse, grow: the full journey to healing all twelve gods is already playable, start to finish (PLACEHOLDER ASSETS AND EFFECTS)

This build exists to be tested. Feedback of any kind — bugs, balance, feel, ideas — is hugely welcome. That's the whole point.
